"Originally, the favor of the gods was granted to one region of players, depending on events in the Hall of Heroes. When a team of characters defended the Hall five consecutive times, all players from that region gained the favor of the gods."

It would have been better for them to have people pay gold for these bonuses when they did not have favor, and don’t pay when they did. It’s simple and it works; also it does not sound too complicated.

Not much to say but holy shit! No where did I see this coming.
I guess we'll see how this plays out...When does this new system take effect? Or does it take effect nao??

Why not just simply divide the 24h between the regions?

LOL WUT???!!1 Favor based on titles? Honestly, most people I've talked to are getting the titles in the hopes that they might unlock something cool in GW2. Don't think this will really work but whatever. I'd rather get balthazar faction (like 10k it beats killing everything and waiting for one to drop imo) which I can trade for a scroll to UW/FoW same way luxon/kurzick faction gets you a scroll to the deep/urgoz.

Hmmm...
It's just too bad many hardcore PvErs have already maxed out many of these titles long ago, and won't be able to even passively help gaining favor - so I'm not quite sure what the developers have in mind. Like someone mentioned before, won't favor eventually run out? And since I have to max out titles in conjunction with others across my region to enable this new system, I'm still not actually guaranteed a time spot to go to the FoW or UW. I might be the 13th person to cap a title...log out for the night...and come back the next day to learn had I stayed another 3 hours, I could have gone to the FoW.
Thankfully, I've never been all that excited about either place - it's always been a niche/farmer hangout, except for those few PUG groups that get together to see how fast even the simplest of organization can go wrong after you say "Don't talk to the ghost!", to which is replied, "Oh, you mean this one?" *click*
I'm all for separating church from state, I mean PvP from PvE, but this method has me scratching my head...

Have mixed feelings about this myself. Although a P vs E player myself who only dabbles in P vs P..... I do believe that P vs P should not effect what happens to the P vs E aspect of the game. I really wonder though if eventually favor will be a hard thing to get as the game is expanded into yet another chapter and many players just simply stop chasing titles. Or will the Hall of Momuments be such a great thing in Eye of the North that they are assuming folks will be simply going for the titles ? I chase titles myself but how many P vs E folks don't ?

Anet removed the "OLD" favor system because a lot of players could not gain access a lot of the time.
Anet is planning these changes because they are "in-the-know" that such changes "should" increase accessibility world wide. If anything they are the ones behind the wheel and will adjust things accordingly in any attempt to "increase" access. Too many of you are jumping to conclusion far too early and for the wrong reasons.
Also as far as "grinding" is concerned. THERE IS NO ADDITIONAL GRIND FOR THIS PLANNED CHANGE. All these titles were in place before all of this and it hasn't changed. Also no one in their right mind would spend countless hours maxing "1" title just to give his fellow peers and himself 1 hour access to UW/FoW. Again I repeat, "Additional grind? What additional grind? You smoking something good?".

The only reason it was done this way was in hopes to get the PvE players to get into PvP after finishing the origional storyline. They never realized that PvE would have such a huge following in this game, thus why the favor system was designed and implimented in the way that it was.

I quite like this change, it doesnt force people to grind as thats always the players choice. Anet must have numbers on the amount of max titles attained per day/hour etc, otherwise they wouldnt be putting this in.
The unlinking of PvE and PvP is long overdue, so thats good. I do think its a shame you wont get to see your own announcement if, for example, you attain the legendary cartographer title out in an explorable area.
Also, I dont believe we will run out of titles to max; think of all the new players coming in with the addition of GWEN, it wont be as many as we had with NF as its an expansion and not a game, but they will keep the ball rolling. There will also be new titles. There are also old players with new characters every day, i imagine this will lead to the legendary survivor being max a fair amount.
The only beef i have with it is the lore based arguement:
"Balthazar is impressed with your ability to scoff down red bean cakes"

i don't care, if the numbers add up to get a decent share of favor
i want to get favor, because of my actions in the game..
this is just another stupid "rely on somebody else" system

Hmmm, I wonder if max titles would ever 'run out'...
ATM, the amount of maxed titles is going kinda fast, we're at like 6 already, in just a few minutes...
However, if more and more people max out titles, some day, it will take longer till someone maxes out a title...
And I'm a bit concerned about the 1 hour duration... When you get favor and you're in a mission, you have to finish that up first, then find a team, and THEN go in FoW/UW. By that time, the hour might be over. It also makes things more exciting when in FoW/UW. (You die? Wait another few hours...)
But for the rest, I'll be hoping this works out fine :3

I got the first point as Sah Rah Devi - Legendary Spearmarshall. Well, 2 years and 1 max title of that level is a pretty good rate....

i have a feeling this system is going to fail. certian ppl will grind for titles, just to fow or uw. then the they go in. hour goes away, then every one else is waiting my guess around 4-6 hours to get 1 hour of favor again. i see after maybe 2 months anet will change either the time favor last or the amount of titles.

they should have just dropped the pvp/favor system alltogether and not linked it this way. simple up the drop rate on the scrolls and reduce the cost at the trader. done. this way anyone could access fow/uw at any time. end of problem.

HMMMMMM 6 million to unlock grand master treasure hunter on another char or 2k for a scroll ....
I still dont get why they would mess with it. We have SCROLLS .. leave it be and move on to something productive. Like upgrading the network. Having half the deep party get error7 at same time nightly HELLOOOOOOOOOOOOO there is something you can work on. Scrolls were put in place to compensate for regions not having favor. If people on forums still whine then take it for what it is .. you cant make everyone happy and move on. Favor should remain how it is to encourage fresh blood to take an interest in pvp or you will watch it die off.

Wow... This just seems out of the blue. Oh hey, we have a system, instead of tweaking it, lets toss to mess with them.
Ya hahaaha! This will be grand.
We will see how this works, sounds stupid though.
